TMA Denim Jacket

A denim jacket with a custom back panel and lino printed patches, inspired by "The Magnus Archives", a horror podcast distributed by Rusty Quill.

I began by cutting out the back panel of the jacket, then cut a piece of cotton to size and sketched on my design.

I painted the panel using acrylic paints and fabric medium, paying attention to the flow of the spirals.

Once the first layer was dry, I went over the panel again, using white to bring out highlights and brightening colours where they had mixed too much.

I painted on the details, using posca pens for some of the finer details, such as the writing, and black acrylics for the bigger parts.

I pinned the panel into place and sewed it onto the jacket, using a zipper foot to ensure the stitching was as close to the pre-existing seam as possible.

I then sewed on two of my patches using a zigzag stitch on my machine.

The silver details around the seams were added by dry brushing metallic acrylic paint onto the jacket using a toothbrush for texture, with some added splatters.
