A polymer clay model of Mr Bonzo from the horror podcast 'The Magnus Protocol'

I started off by studying the official art of the character, and sketching him out in a neutral pose, which I then printed at the right scale and referenced throughout.

I made a wire armature, which I padded out using tin foil.

I then covered the armature with polymer clay, paying attention to the positioning of the skin folds and boils as I went.

I sculpted the face and then carved out the ‘split’ in his body, making sure the edges looked natural, then baked the model to cure the polymer clay.

Using acrylics, I started off by painting the model in a bright yellow, with a deep red in the crevice down his body.

I painted multiple layers of washes and dry brushing to dull down the yellow colour and bring out the texture in the model. Finally, I attached tiny pieces of sewing thread across the split in his body.
